Hogan Fun Run Lake Superior
Circle Tour |
June 4, 2009 - It is probable
that the Wolf's Head Rally & Lake Superior Circle Tour may come
back in 2010. We believe that the economy and the new
passport requirements, coupled with last years rain all of rally
weekend conspired to dampen (pun intended) our 2009 plans.
If you are interested in attending a new Wolf's Head Rally,
and/or the Lake Superior Circle Tour in 2010 please drop me a
note at:
webmaster@wolfsheadrally.com and let me know how many people
you'd be bringing and if tour, rally or both as we really need
to know that the interest is there before we put in a lot ot
time, money and work. We'd love to have this continue,
would hate to see it die, but we think maybe 2010 might be the
magic year. Sheldon
May 11, 2009 - Jack and I have put our hearts, pocketbooks, and souls into the Wolf's Head Rally & Tours for so many years now that it had become a huge part of our lives. Unfortunately we only have two registrations for the Lake Superior Circle Tour so far this year. Usually by this time we have about 70% of the riders signed up so this is very troubling. We believe that a combination of the new passport requirements and the devastated economy have conspired to put an end (for now) to the Lake Superior Circle Tour. We have reached the point where we have to purchase our insurance, which is very expensive, and we've decided that with only two registrations there is no way we can justify going on. A full refund will be made to those registrants. The Jim Hogan Fun Run is still a go. Anyone needing a place to stay before the rally are welcome to camp at Jack's House. First Saturday in August, will be the camp-out at Jack’s house. Camp Friday thru Sunday. Hopefully the economy will recover and at some future date the Rally and/or Tour will be revived and reinvigorated. SheldonJanuary 20, 2009 - The Bad News: There will be no Wolf's Head Rally for 2009. The pouring rain last year, combined with the move from Two Harbors to Cloquet pretty much wiped us out. The amount of work, and money, that goes into putting on a rally is tremendous and even though we love doing it, making lots of lifelong friends and generally having a great time, we just can't do it again at this year. We haven't completely thrown in the towel though and there is always a possibility that we will revive it at some point. Over the last thirteen years we've had a great time putting on the rallies although in retrospect we never, ever made a profit, but then it wasn't all about profits, and there were many other kinds of rewards. The thousands of smiles, the great eats at the Fresh Kill Cafe, the stunt riders, light parades, wolf howling contests, all the great bands and other entertainers, bike shows, and all that went into the rally will provide us with enough memories to last a lifetime. We fully intend to continue the Lake Superior Circle Tour for many years to come, and one day there may again be a Wolf's Head Rally. Thanks for all your support, and join us at the Jim Hogan Fun Run in June or the Lake Superior Circle Tour in July. Jack & Sheldon

For Lake Superior Circle Tour Riders -- There have been some changes to the new 2008 passport requirements. Apparently they've relaxed the requirement because they were so overwhelmed with requests. For Canada and Mexico they've apparently come up with a new "U. S. Passport Card" that one can get for $20 or a Birth Certificate & Drivers License (Both). We haven't had time to digest it all but you can read about it at the U.S. Customs and the U.S. Department of State Web sites. Or The U.S. Passport Card Site. If you are planning on joining
us for the 2008 Lake Superior Circle Tour you MUST have either a
"Passport Card", valid U.S. Passport or a Birth
Certificate & Drivers License (Both). |

Minnesota's premiere motorcycle rally is more than just a rally - In
addition to the Rally there is also a
leisurely 1,500-mile cruise around Lake Superior, an event that gives
North Shore visitors the chance to experience waterfront vistas, fine
roads, maritime and mining history, and friendly people. Wolf's Head Motorcycle Rally & Tour puts riding first and rallying a close second. The "Wolf's Head Lake Superior Circle Tour" runs five days. The tour runs counter-clockwise around Lake Superior and follows the shoreline through Wisconsin, Michigan, Ontario, and Minnesota, with overnight stops in Houghton and Munising, Michigan, and Wawa and Nipigon, Ontario. The pace this year is again relaxed to allow more time for sight seeing and the distance ridden on any day will not exceed 300 miles. |

"It would be a fine thing for the world if some of this goodwill
could be bottled up at Christmas time and dealt out regularly
wherever it was needed during the rest of the year. For
instance, I'm sure the motorcycle world could stand some of it;
for, even though we boast of our "good fellowship" spirit, there
still seems to be a tendency among a good many motorcyclist to
slight the fellow riding another kind of machine. Motorcyclist
are all bound together by a brotherhood tie through their love
of the sport, and what difference does it make what make of
machine he rides as long as he belongs to the clan?" -- Walter
